During a feasibility study solutions with the help of new media technology to solve organizational and administrative problems become clear. Through dialogue on work flow, functionality and graphic design we salve these problems together. After this study we know what has to be done and it's time to define our coming development in a demand specification.We now know what has to be done. Demand specification has multiple roles. First of all it's the result of the feasibility study and a confirmation on what has to be developed. Secondly the demand specification can be used to contract consultants other than my self. And thirdly the process of authoring demand specification is a helpful and iterative way for both me and the client to bring about new problems and solutions that were not discussed during the feasibility study. A demand specification is a road map for the technical development team. The document consists of information architecture, functionality and work flow for the CMS.With the demand specification in hand it's time to get our hands dirty and the technical development can begin.
A graphical design is developed using existing communication material and the navigation is visualized. When the graphic design has been accepted it is adopted and developed technically (using xhtml, css, dhtml) in accordance with W3C standards. On the server side the database is designed and implemented. During the test phase technical bugs are found and corrected. The content (images, texts) is verified and when everything is OK it's time for launch. I offer expert evaluations and user testing on existing web solutions. User testing is a process of testing the user interface and observing actual users in there efforts to complete defined tasks on the web page. The results are documented and recommendations for further enhancement of the user interface are presented. I also offer my expertise commenting existing web solutions on usability issues based on research by other usability experts and my own extensive experience.
